Last week, Termrim Construction, in partnership with Leeds Federated Housing Association, had the pleasure of hosting 20 students from Leeds Beckett University at our Sugar Hill Close Development in Oulton, procured through the Efficency North framework.
The postgraduate planning students are studying the site and its history as part of their module on housing and urban regeneration policy. Sugar Hill Close and Wordsworth Drive were originally built in the 1950s by the Coal Board as Airey homes, a type of prefabricated construction developed after WWII.
While most of the estate was regenerated in the 1990s, the remaining 70 Airey homes on Sugar Hill Close and Wordsworth Drive are now being transformed into high-quality, modern homes designed to meet today’s housing standards. This visit gave the students valuable insight into the evolution of post-war housing and the challenges of urban regeneration.
We are looking forward to welcoming the students again in November at our Armley site!
